'Remembering for Peace' - a Moving Day of Learning 

RememberingforPeace.jpgWe are delighted to welcome your school or group to Caernarfon, and hope we can support you to enjoy an unforgettable learning experience from your visit.  

The breath-taking Poppies: Weeping Window installation by artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper, is free to visit in Caernarfon Castle from 12th October to 20th November 2016 . During the display we expect a significant increase in visitors therefore all groups must book in advance.

Throughout the duration of the installation we have availability for two group tour booking ‘slots’ in Caernarfon Castle each day: 10am and 1pm. Minimum 10 and maximum 30 participants (groups can be split).

Bespoke Group Visit Packages

We have created bespoke group packages to enhance your visit:
  • 'Remembering for Peace' Tour: Viewing of Poppies followed by guided Tour of 'Remembering for Peace' exhibition, the ‘Faces of the Fusiliers’ display, and soldiers stories in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers Museum. 30-45 minutes.
  • Learning Workshops (optional extra) – facilitated sessions supported by trained volunteers using the 14-18 NOW Poppies Learning pack: English (creative writing), Welsh (creative writing), Art, History & Literacy (poppy symbols), Literacy & History (war poetry). 60-90 minutes.
  • Creative Response (optional extra) – an opportunity for participants to leave tributes of remembrance, messages of peace, or to compose poetry or crafts, as a private reflection or for public display in Caernarfon Castle or Oriel Pendeitsch. 20-60 minutes.
  • Caernarfon Peace Trail (optional extra) - find out more about the impact of WW1 on Gwynedd, with a guided tour of some of Caernarfon's hidden heritage sites and stories - from welcoming Belgian Refugees from the front, to the Women's Peace Pilgrimage. 60 minutes.
