FREE CPD session - 4th November, Caernarfon.

To mark the Poppies tour and the centenary of WW1, an exciting learning programme has been devised for KS2 - 3 English / Welsh Literacy, Art and History teachers.

More about Poppies: Weeping Window at Caernarfon

Previously shown at the Tower of London as part of the celebrated installation Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, the dramatic sculptures ‘Poppies: Wave and Weeping Window’, by artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper, are currently touring heritage sites in England, Scotland and Wales.

For a limited time this sculpture Poppies: Weeping Window will be on display at Caernarfon Castle, and we are inviting KS2-3 teachers to participate in a FREE CPD and guided tour.

This 'twilight session' will provide:

  • Classroom strategies using the sculpture for promoting pupil talk
  • Literacy focussed activity to generate rich writing outcomes for English and Welsh audiences.
  • Practical lesson plans for using the sculptures as a platform to explore WW1 and local history units
  • A take-away teacher’s pack with a raft of lesson plans across KS2-3, bilingual and adapted for the Welsh curriculum, as well as opportunities for linked school visits.

Date: 4th November 2016

Times: 1pm-5pm (refreshments included)
